Our Story
Created with purpose. Built with character. Made to inspire.
More Than an Instrument
Atlantic London was created from a belief that a great saxophone should be more than a beautifully made object. It should have a voice, a soul and a personality of its own - something that inspires the player and becomes more personal with every note. After five years of development, we have created saxophones with warmth, depth and subtlety, balanced by the projection and immediacy demanded by today’s professional musicians.
They respond freely, feel instinctive beneath the fingers and allow the player’s individual voice to come through without restraint. Atlantic saxophones are now played by some of the world’s most distinctive musicians, including Courtney Pine CBE, Ray Gelato and Michael Wilbur of Moon Hooch. Different artists, different musical worlds - but each chose an instrument with the character to become part of their sound. Atlantic is for musicians who don’t simply want to own another saxophone. It is for those searching for a lasting creative connection: an instrument with something to say, and the freedom to say it in their own way.
Research & Development
Leading Atlantic London’s development is Jamie Straker, former Managing Director of internationally renowned saxophone specialist SAX (Sax.co.uk). Having grown up surrounded by instruments in music shops, Jamie developed an instinctive understanding of the connection players form with a truly exceptional saxophone. Over more than two decades, he worked closely with world-class musicians, educators and master technicians, gaining a rare insight into what makes an instrument feel, respond and sound extraordinary. Drawing on that experience, Jamie set out to create a new generation of saxophones - bringing together the most inspiring qualities of the world’s most revered instruments while giving Atlantic a voice, character and identity unmistakably its own.
Hand Engraving
Each saxophone is adorned with intricate engravings meticulously crafted by a master engraver boasting decades of experience in the field. In an era where many modern manufacturers are shifting towards laser-cut designs, we believe it is crucial to preserve and celebrate the artistry of hand engraving.
The Atlantic London Sound
The foundation of the Atlantic London Sound was laid with a paramount goal in mind: to craft a sound that is balanced, resonant, and versatile. When leaned back on, the saxophone emanates a full-bodied warmth and depth, creating a rich sonic tapestry. Yet, when pushed to its limits, it reveals a dynamic character, cutting through with sizzle and energy. This distinctive quality offers a multitude of harmonic overtones, making the Atlantic Sound truly exceptional.
